Chart Climbing Again!

No.3! Even more stoked! Wow!

Tour Of Dirty - Lost Footage!

Finally got this up online and its actually pretty cool (well its at least of some interest to those of us who attended the tour). The Dirty MGMT blog reckons we may eventually see the rest of this tour diary delivered at some point in the distant future....
[Calling all editors and/or film students with their own mac and lots of spare time. We need you!]

This ep is from the Hamilton and Palmerston North leg.

The Joy Of Victory, The Agony, Defeat

The results of last nights MPC Championship of the World are as follows:

3rd Equal; Submariner + Mu
2nd Place; Dobie Blaze

And 1st Place Grand Champion...
Jeremy OTA!

Ya boy money did his thing but narrowly missed a placing in the top three (audio coming soon). It was an amazing evening. The musicianship on display was remarkable and Jeremy was the clear winner on the night. Full rundown to come once I've sobered up and have my feet firmly planted on auckland soil.

What a night!

Battles On!

It's the 2008 MPC Battle for World Supremacy on tonight at Bodega in Wellington and Im still up working on last minute additions to the beats I have prepared. The sample packs they gave us on sunday had heaps of stuff to play with so it was more a case of "what don't I want to use" rather than "what can I do with this?".
We got given some Isaac Hayes tunes, a whole bunch of instruments and Michael Jackson's Billie Jean to chop up if we dare. And yes, I do dare. With no fear. The rules also allow us to add our own vocal samples so I'm taking advantage of that.
Im anticipating a very high standard of musicality at this event. Almost all the other competitors are musicians in bands and shit, infact I may be the only actual 'hip-hop producer' of the bunch (no disrespect intended). So I figure my approach will be a little different to some of the other guys. I like that.
Doin my final run through now and making a back up disc, then its off to bed. I must be well rested for battle!

Co-Stars Part 2: Meryl Cassie

Meryl Cassie is a talented South African born New Zealand raised actress and singer and is most well known for her role as 'Ebony' in the kiwi made sci-fi series The Tribe.

Meryl is the youngest of the three (world famous in Papatoetoe!) Cassie sisters aka female vocal trio 'Nubian Angels'.

Dancing on shoulders never looked so good. Meryl's performance was effortless. She's a star. Thanks Meryl.

Co-Stars Part 1: Bobby Brazuka

Bobby Brazuka; the man, the legend, is hosting the latest installment of his semi-regular club night "Half The Size - Double The Flavour" at Rakinos tonight with special guest DJ's P-MONEY (me!) and Kilimanraro. Gig starts at 9pm til 3ish and I'll be on at midnight.

Bobby is the understated superstar brazilian ambassador of Auckland/NZ and a bonafide hustler. Case in point he agreed to participate in my video only if I would play at his next gig. Fair trade. You can catch Bobby on the airwaves weekly on George Fm (Sundays 6-8pm) and Base Fm (Fridays 10-12am) and he can also be found most days of the week as chief barista at Conch Records in ponsonby. Cheers Bobby!

[oh yeah, and if you didnt catch it, Bobby is the little guy on my shoulders in the Everything video.]

Battle Of The Beats

I'm gearing up for a really fun night in Welli next Thursday where Akai and my homie Slave are playing host to the third ever MPC world championship of the world (lol). To be clear this is not a 'serious' beat battle, more so an excuse for a bunch of MPC-using, Beat-making alcohol-drinking dudes from various musical backgrounds to flex their individual styles for the love of breaks and enjoyment of all. But before we turn this into some hippie MPC love-fest, there are real prizes up for grabs so the competitive spirit shall be alive and well on the night. This event is open to the public so come along for some good beats and a good laugh or two.

Competitors: Defending Champion Imon Star, MU, Fulla Flash, Submariner, Clubba Laing, Jetlag Johnson, Rio, Riki Gooch, Jeremy "Ota", Julien Dyne, Killamanraro, Dobie Blaze, P-Money, Kava.

Judges: Manuel"Mills Lane" Bundy, Downtown Brown, MC Antsman

What: AKAI MPC CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD [sic] 2008
When: Thursday, September 25, 2008
Where: BODEGA, Wellington, New Zealand
Battle Starts: 9pm

P-Money - Everything (ft. Vince Harder) VIDEO

Here it is folks!

Countdown pt.2.04 - More Breaking News

It's here! Upload in progress...

Countdown pt.2.03 - Breaking News

Time to let the cat out of the bag I think!
Tune into C4 at 7:30pm for "The Official NZ Chart Show" and you will see the television premiere of the "Everything" video. It's all happening right now, we just got the Beta tapes delivered (these are the master copies which get sent to TV) a few hours ago and I've been waiting on a Quicktime version to upload to Youtube all day.
The quicktime disc should be here any minute and then I'll start uploading it. Depending on how my upload speed is today it may be on TV before I get the youtube upload completed.
The guys at C4 knew we were getting the tapes back today and they reckon they can get it on tonight's show if we get the tapes over to them now. So the race is on, who will have the premier?? C4 or Youtube...stay tuned!

Countdown pt.2.02

Got the call, the disk is ready and the courier is on his way. Then it's upload time. Once I get the disc it should take under an hour to upload the file and then all shall be right with the world.

In the meantime why not take a listen to this...

Countdown pt.2.01

nearly there now... waiting on the courier!

The Infamous Countdown Returns!

Love it or hate it, I'm counting down again.
Only 3 days this time...

Top 40

My latest single "Everything" ft. Vince Harder made its debut on the charts this week at number 40. Mean!
Thanks to all those who dropped $2 on a download already. You are awesome.

The single has been out 2 weeks so far and is still building. Im really happy with the responses we've had to this tune. Its pretty much a unanimous thumbs up (that's after the initial confused look and customary "this is a p-money track?!?", haha)

You can track the weekly charts via the RIANZ website if you're into that sort of thing.

Shout out to the homies Nesian Mystik who debuted at number 36 with their new one "Dancefloor" aswell (peep my cameo in the vid, ha!).

PNC - Take Me Home

Young Samuel Hansen has introduced his new single to the world today via his personal blog.
Head on over and take a listen. Supposedly it's "the most comprehensive reflection of the shit [He] actually listen[s] to" and I tend to agree with that statement.
Oh the many fun nights have we spent listening to PNC's ipod...haha
